Located just
over an hours drive from Montreal,
Quebec, the pretty village of Mont
Tremblant is the number one ski
destination in Eastern Canada
and attracts tourists from around
the globe. Mont Tremblant is
the highest Peak in the rugged
region of the Laurentian Mountains,
which are a majestic presence
in the Quebec landscape. The
Laurentians stretch from Southern
Quebec to the shores of the St.
Lawrence River. The village of
Mont Tremblant was originally
created by merging the historic
villages of St. Jovite and Mont-Tremlant,
with the ski resort at Tremblant.
The area is truly a four seasons
destination, equally appealing
to those seeking a wide variety
of activities and those wanting
simply to relax.
Winter Activities
The Tremblant Resort covers 600
acres and four mountain sides.
Boasting 94
runs serviced by 14 high speed
lifts and 18
acres of rails, ramps,
jumps and an Olympic caliber
superpipe,
Mont Tremblant certainly is
a paradise for the skiing enthusiast.
For the developing skiers and
snow boarders there is a well
respected ski school.
For the more avid skier or
boarder the resort runs a full
calendar of events and competitions.
However, there is more on offer
than just skiing and snowboarding
during the winter months. The
larger area of the Laurentiens
boasts over 2,000kms of beautifully
wooded trails on which you
can enjoy dog sledding, snow
mobiling, cross-country skiing,
snow shoeing and skating on
one of the many outdoor rinks.
Summer Activities
Although the area is known for
its world class winter sports,
Mont Tremblant also offers
a wide range summer activities.
The area is popular with golfers
of all levels with its 10
golf courses, five of which are
Championship rated, all with
impressive vistas and challenges
for all skill levels. The Mont
Tremblant National Park offers
a wide range of outdoor activities
during the summer months. The
mountains, forests and valley
areas are popular with hikers
and cyclists. There are also
trails for horse back riding
and ATV touring. For the adventurous,
paragliding
or rock climbing are popular activities.
The Mont Tremblant area also
has many rivers and lakes catering
to every water sport. Mountain
streams tempt the fly
fishing enthusiasts, opening out into
fast flowing rivers for white
water rafters. Experienced as
well as beginner rafters can
spend the day enjoying the excitement
of the Rouge River. Canoeing
the Devil’s River is one
of the best ways for any nature
lover to experience all that
Tremblant has to offer. The many
lakes, such as Lake Tremblant
are the perfect place for anyone
to try wake-boarding,
water skiing, surf-biking, sailing,
canoeing
or kayaking.
Le Circuit Mont Tremblant is
one of the best race tracks in
North America and has hosted
several Formula One events in
its 40 year history. For the
nostalgic, the Le Sommet des
Légendes showcases sports
cars of the 50’s and 60’s,
and the Ferrari Festival is your
opportunity to see some of the
rarest cars in the world in their “natural
habitat”.
Arts and Entertainment
With such an impressive mountain
landscape in the surrounding
area, it is not surprising
that Mont Tremblant has many
art galleries displaying a
wide range of local art, including
paintings by renowned Quebecois
artists and Inuit sculptures.
There are also a number of
annual festivals including:
the Festival International
du Blues de Tremblant (Tremblant
International Blues Festival – during
July), one of the largest blues
music events in the country.
This festival takes place over
10 days, with numerous concerts
on both indoor and outdoor
stages. There is also a Beach
Fest in July, the Wine and
Game Festival in October and
the Symphony of Colours, which
includes various events and
activities during the autumn.
The villages also offer a wide
choice of excellent restaurants,
exclusive boutiques and lively
nightlife.
