About Transdanubia

Western Hungary consists of 3 regions: West, Central and South Transdanubia [View Map]

West Transdanubvia is famous for it’s thermal springs and the baths in Balf, Sárvár and Bükfürdõ and the Gyõr Summer International Cultural Festival, location to international ballet and street-theatre. Central Transdanubia is located just 40 km west of Budapest and north of Lake Balaton. The region is dominated by low hills and shallow lakes producing the full-bodied wines from Mór, Somló or Etyek. Southern Transdanubia is bordered by the Danube and Drava. It is a region of forests and valleys. Hiking and horse-riding are popular local pursuits.
