Rabat
is situated on the North Atlantic
coast, 80 km north of Casablanca [view
map]. Despite
being Morocco’s second
largest city and capital of
a Modern State, Rabat is less
busy than other cities in Morocco.
Famous for traditional cuisine,
historical monuments and rich
embroidery its architecture
blends a mix of European and
traditional style.
Rabat also provides a number
of good golf courses in and around
Rabat including the Royal course
in Dar Es Salam boasting 45 holes.
Around Rabat also lie a number
of beaches. Perhaps the best is
the Plage de Nations, 15km north
of the city, offering excellent
surfing conditions.
Being
a metropolitan city French, English
and Spanish are widely spoken.
Average daytime temperatures in
summer rise to 24ºC (75ºF)
with winter temperatures rarely
dropping below 7ºC (45ºF). |
