and churches particularly in Mantua,
Pavia and Cremona. Great Lakes
Lombardy is home to some of Europe’s
largest inland waterways. The Lakes
of Maggiore, Como, Orta and Garda
provide a range of water sport activities
and lake cruises.

Lombardy is famous for it’s
polenta or rice and risotto is perhaps
the region’s favoured dish.
Menus vary across the region where
polenta, for example, is served
either hot like porridge, or cold
and cut
into slices. Other favourites include
Panettone cake and lemon flavoured
biscotti.
