About Lanzarote

Lanzarote boasts a mature and thriving rental market – particularly in the luxury beachfront sector. Playa Blanca is perhaps the fastest growing resort in the Canaries with 20% capital appreciation in 2005.

The major resorts of Lanzarote are:

  • Puerto del Carmen – lying on the south east shore, near the international airport, the resort offers more than 6 km of golden sandy beaches.
  • Costa Teguise – lying on the eastern shore due north of the airport, this resort offers the best accommodation and shopping facilities on the island
  • Playa Blanca – on the southern tip of the island, the resort is family orientated and more tranquil than most other resorts

Lanzarote is an island of volcanic origin. It offers a stunning selection of volcanic landscapes including the mountain Peñas del Chache and the volcanic ‘Tunnel of Atlantis’. In the south west lies the Timanfaya National Park where some minor volcanic activity still occurs.

Lanzarote possesses a tropical climate. At the height of summer, July and August temperatures average over 30°C (86 °F). Even in the winter, the night-time temperatures rarely drop below 13°C (55 °F). The water temperature in the summer is 22°C (72 °F).

The island is home to 2 theme parks - Aqua Park in Costa Teguise and Theme Park in Puerto del Carmen. The island is also one of the best surfing locations in the world – between November and March waves can reach 4.5 metres in height.

A number of budget airlines now fly to Arrecife (ACE) Airport or locally known as Guacimeta. The majority of people arrive by charter flight, however British Airways and Excel Airways now offer scheduled services.
