Whether
you are looking for a year round
property investment or a place
to spend time for the holiday making
season, it is hard to go wrong
with one of the most desirable
tourist destinations in Europe.
Ibiza’s year round population
is just 100,000. With the dramatic
increase of residents during the
summer months due to seasonal workers
and annual holiday makers, the
demand for real estate will only
continue to increase.
Ibiza, the island, is the third
largest of the Balearic Islands
(in order of size Majorca, Menorca,
Ibiza, Formentera and Cabrera)
and together with Formentera forms
what the Greeks call the Pitiusas
islands or “islands of pine
trees". Though there are common
ties between the Balearic islands,
each one has its own unique landscape.
Hilly terrain offers magnificent
scenery while pine forests, almond
trees, fig, olive and palm trees
abound.
On this island of almost perpetual
sun, the
climate is very mild and produces
an everlasting springtime,
though the famous Ibiza club season
waits til end of June to get going
and is still among the best places
in Europe to party.
Don’t forget to head down
to the south of the island, where
you'll find San Antonio, Platja
d'en Bossa, Sant Rafael and Ibiza
town, all popular with young clubbers
and within easy reach of the better
night clubs. Ibiza is the island's
capital and a lively maritime port,
built on the side of a mountain
beside the sea. Barrio de la Penya
y de la Bomba, colorful quarter
of town, located just at the town-walls,
is the center of Ibiza's pulsating
life.
Dalt Vila Ibiza's historical centre,
located at the top of the hill
and enclosed by town-walls has
some interesting districts with
panoramic views out to the sea.
Three kilometres from the capital
are the beaches of Talamanca, which
can be reached by a frequent bus
and motor launch service. Head
inland for a taste of nostalgia
where almond and olive groves are
plentiful and local straw-hatted
women wear long black skirts and
the goatherds keep drivers to a
minimum speed. |
The region
is also serviced by three international
airports, and can be reached from
Alicante and Valencia airports
with daily flights; and Murcia
(south of Alicante) used by a smaller
number of British operators. The
Airport of San Javier is located
near the Mar Menor and has regular
daily air service with Madrid in
addition to some charter flights.
Just over two hours flying time
from the UK, Ryanair flies to Murcia
from multiple destinations including
London Luton, Stansted, the East
Midlands, Dublin and Glasgow Prestwick.
