Property for sale in Goa

Goa is a terrific blend of old and new, with hospitable people, verdant hill forests and beaches stretching 100 km from north to south. Goa’s property market is booming – prices since 2000 have grown between 12-15% each year leading the Daily Telegraph in May ‘ 2005 to state that ‘The small Indian state, redolent of the age of Empire, is attracting a new wave of foreigners’. In addition, the strength in tourism provides a mature rental market.

About Goa

Although a province of India, Goa is distinctively different from the rest of the country. A former colony of Portugal, Goa is located mid-way down the west coast of India. Separated from British India by a wall of mountains, Goa retained its Portuguese attitude and has earned a reputation for a laid-back lifestyle and friendly people. Coupled with its silver beaches and cool waters, Goa is a popular resort for tourists – in 2005 it attracted over 1 million visitors.

There are mainly 4 big stretches of beach running from north to south, each in excess of 7 miles:

  • Mandrem-Arambol - virgin beaches in the north
  • Calangute-Baga - most commercially developed and populated
  • Colva-Benaulim
  • Palolem - beautiful white beaches to the south.

The hinterland is mainly forest and mountains. From the North to the South there are the famous Western Ghats which possess fantastic wildlife, waterfalls and hill stations.

Temperatures average between 25° - 30°C (68 – 82 °F). The monsoon season is June to September.
