Boa
Vista is a perfect location for
all water sports including sailing,
diving, surfing, fishing, and kayaking.
It also possesses perhaps the finest
beach in Cape Verde, Curralinho.
Most of the 5,000 population live
in Sal Rei to the north with the
rest of Island consisting of tiny
hamlets and secluded coves. Similar
to Santiago, the Island offers
a distinct West African feel with
traditional music and festivals
commonplace throughout.
The climate of the Island is heavily
influenced by the hot dry winds
from the Sahara – accordingly
the island offers all year round
sunshine peaking at 28°C (83°F)
in the summer months.
The island is also renowned for
marine turtles – it is home
to some of the most important feeding

Boa Vista is circa 15 minutes from Sal International Airport by air taxi. A ferry
terminal is also located in Sal Rei. In early 2007 the new international airport
will be completed.
