Much
of the ancient city of Budva has
been restored and along with its
modern hotels and sub-tropical
climate, contributes to the hospitable
and relaxed atmosphere which continues
to attract more visitors each year.
In summer the open-air
stages, festivals and celebrations across
Budva, Petrovac and Becici is an
experience not to be missed. In
the Stari Grad (Budva’s Old
Town) you can also visit many shops,
cafés, restaurants and galleries.
Historic and religious monuments
can be found throughout including
the Monasteries Stanjevici, Podostrog,
Rezevici i Gradiste.
There are numerous sites and villages
in and around Budva including the
Old Town with its walls that were
built in the Middle Ages when the
region was ruled by the Venetians.
There is an abundance of excellent
restaurants and taverns, serving
tempting local specialties. The
best known among the beaches of
this beautiful coastline are Mogren,
Slovenska, Becici, Kraljicina (Royal),
Petrovac.
About 760 m above the town of
Budva, on the Brajici village periphery,
there is the best paragliding location
in Montenegro with its landing
place in the Becici beach area.
Weather conditions generally permit
gliding from the end of March through
the end of September. Alternatively,
one could reach Becici from Budva
by walking along the seaside promenade.
The resort of Becici is located
some 2 km from the old town of
Budva and offers a wide range of
watersports facilities. A beautiful
sea promenade leads to the fishing
village with its lovely selection
of restaurants, cafes and shops.
Sveti Stefan, named after Saint
Stephen, the patron Saint of Montenegro,
is a small tourist town which has
managed to retain much of its ancient
character. Frequented by the rich
and famous and considered by many
to be the most exclusive spot on
the Adriatic coast, legend says
that the local tribe Pastrovici
built on this peninsula with captured
Turk treasure of the 15th century.
Today it is attractive city-hotel
with villas and apartments with
magnificent views to the sea’s
horizon.
Petrovac is situated close to
Sveti Stefan and is the southernmost
beach area of the Budva Riviera.
During the holiday season it is
very popular with tourists, especially
those with families. Surrounded
by olive groves and pine forest,
Petrovac is most famous for its
two sandy beaches, Petrovac and
Lucice which are considered some
of the most beautiful of the Budva
Riviera.
