Abbey National
reports demand for French property still high
Abbey National France reported a rise of 17%
in mortgage applications for 2004 compared with
the previous year. British buyers represent 40%
of all international buyers, double the number
in 2000. New build properties are proving particularly
popular with an increase of 143% in the last
3 years - hotspots being the Riviera and French
Alps.
Property Prices in Paris continue to surge
Price per sqm for the 'Haussmanian-style' buildings
in Paris increased by 11.7% for apartments and
15.8% for houses between June 2003 and June 2004.
Almost 10% of all properties sold during the
first 3 months of 2004 were purchased by overseas
buyers.
New flights to France
Ryanair has announced that Shannon Airport will
operate low fare flights to Paris, from May 2005.
A summer flight is also scheduled between London
Stansted and Dinard.
Thomasfly has announced the start of 3 new routes
to Paris from Bournemouth
(March 2005), Coventry (April 2005)
and Sheffield (May 2005).
Flybe, Europes' 3rd largest low cost airline,
has announced new flights to Limoges (Limousin)
from Southampton starting March 2005. Additional
flight schedules are also planned from Southampton
to Rennes (Brittany) and Birmingham to Bergerac

has opened due to the world's highest road bridge
in the Massif Central Mountains.
