It has its own sandy beach next to the castle and there are further sandy beaches along the length of Karystos bay, both to the north and south of the town.

Evia is also one of the most accessible of Greek islands. The ferry terminal at Rafina, is only 30 minutes from Athens International airport The crossing to Marmari takes an hour and it is then a 15 minutes drive to Karystos.
