The important nature reserve at Lake Distos is only a short drive away.

Tsakei is typical of many of the villages in this part of Evia, narrow streets and quaint winding footpaths where time seems to have stood still.

Evia, the second largest of the Greek islands has the advantage of not having an airport, the result of which is that it is remained unspoilt. Even in the height of summer the beaches are never crowded. It is an island which is beloved by those who seek beautiful coastal and mountain scenery and enjoy walking and cycling as well as the more traditional pleasures of swimming or lazing in the sun on some of Europe’s quietest beaches.

Nearly every village and every beach has a taverna or two, serving the islands traditional and mouth watering dishes. It is also an island with a long cultural tradition which still continues to attract writers and artists.

Evia, lies opposite the mainland and this part of Evia is reached by ferry from the tiny port of Agia Marina which is only 50 minutes from Athens international airport. Both the ferries and the port itself have recently been upgraded and the crossing to the small resort of Styra takes about 45 minutes. The land is just over a ten minute drive from Styra.

Tsakei is less than 2 kilometers from the nearest sandy beaches and there are small shops in the nearby villages of Zarakes and Almyropotama as well as at Styra, where there is a wider range of shopping facilities.
