The Property Market

The demand for property in Hungary has consistently grown since accession to the EU in May 2004. Property prices are still significantly below neighbouring countries – for example, apartments in Vienna are 2/3 times the cost in Budapest. Demand is greatest in Budapest where inward investment is creating gentrification of large districts – new developments and large renovations are commonplace.

Outside of the capital, Lake Balaton is increasing is the next best location for investments – real estate prices are increasing at circa 20% per year but average prices are still below EUR 50,000.
