ABRUZZO
Abruzzo is located in east central Italy. Real estate prices are typically 50%
less than its neighbours of Tuscany and Umbria. Abruzzo possesses a low density
of population and enjoys landscapes of rugged beauty with medieval towns
dotted along the countryside. There are direct flights to Pescara including
the low cost airline, Ryanair.
MARCHE
Marche lies due east of Umbria and with real estate prices lower than other
parts of Italy offers a great investment opportunity particularly for farmhouses
requiring restoration. Marche’s landscape ranges from the peaks of
Monti Sibillini to flat plains nearer the coastline and 100 miles of sandy
beaches. Ski resorts and quiet beaches can be reached within 2 hours by car.
Both Ryanair and Easyjet fly to Ancona.
MOLISE
Molise lies due south of Abruzzo. It offers the chepeast property in Italy in
a hilly terrain. Touching the Adriatic Sea to the east it provides peaceful
and clean beach holidays. Large
parts of Molise are covered by
nature reserves - so untouched
is Molise that UNESCO
has chosen it for two of its four
Italian biosphere locations. In recent
years has tourism here begun to
expand and small holiday
resorts have appeared in the mountain
centres.
PUGLIA
Puglia is located at the south eastern tip of Italy with hundreds of miles
of coastline. Puglia is mostly a flatland with high coastlines plunging steep
into the sea. The region is ideal for a real estate investment with relatively
low prices. Houses range from small ‘trulli’ awaiting restoration
to large masserias and modern villas. Flights to Bari are commonplace including
services offered by Ryanair.
SARDINIA
The Island of Sardinia lies in the heart of the Mediterranean, located due
west of the central Italy coast. Demand for real estate continues with the
Southern part of the Island particularly offering excellent investment opportunities.
The Island possesses a diverse landscape from soft sandy beaches lined with
dense pinewoods to sharp cliff tops. A high number of flights can be found
to Cagliari in the South and Alghero in the North including low cost airline
Ryanair.
TUSCANY
Tuscany continues to prove a very popular destination for overseas investors
and bargains can still be spotted particular in the interior and south. Construction
costs are substantially lower in England or the US – accordingly, appreciation
gained from the restoration of a farmhouse ruin often pays for itself. Tuscany
contains many cultural and beautiful cities, including Florence, Siena, Pisa,
Luca, Arezzo and San Gimignano. Regular flights to Florence and Pisa exist
from the UK including Rynair flights from London, Glasgow, Brussels, Frankfurt
and Hamburg.
UMBRIA
Umbria is located in central Italy, bordering Tuscany in the west and Marche
in the east. Known as the ‘Green Heart of Italy’, the landscape
is rolling farmland combined with mountainous rich woodland and beautiful
lakes. Properties for consideration as an investment include ruins of stone
farmhouses (casali), often for sale with their original materials. Regular
flights to Perugia can be found.
