Daniel Ortega wins Nicaragua's Presidential Election
Daniel Ortega became President Elect of Nicaragua after winning 38% of the national vote. For the tourism and real estate sectors in particular, Ortegas’ approach to CAFTA, inward investment and the protection of property rights were key issues. In his first key meeting with representatives of the foreign investment community in Managua, Ortega stressed his commitment to foreign investment, recognizing it as one of the keys to continued growth and future prosperity for the country. As uncertaintly over Ortega's policies fade away, representatives of the real estate community are looking forward to a stronger property market.

Social Investment Fund Set Up in Nicaragua
Real estate brokers in Nicaragua are keen for foreign investors to contribute more to the community than just their property investment. A group of brokers has come together to start an independent fund to focus on issues related to Nicaragua's property market. The fund was provisionally named "REal Opportunities".
