A total of USD33.2bn in capital commitments was raised last year by 162 private equity funds focused on investing in the emerging markets of Asia, Eastern Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa. This level of capital commitment is a 29 per cent increase over the USD25.8bn raised in 2005, according to the Emerging Markets Private Equity Association.
